Skytrax is a UK-based international air transport research organisation that provides performance ranking and benchmarking in the airline and airport industry. Through the Airport Audit & Star Ranking, independent Skytrax auditors conduct an on-site audit considering more than 800 different key performance indicators, i.e., tangible elements that guarantee excellent customer service. Following its audit at Fiumicino at the end of 2022, Skytrax awarded Fiumicino's Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport the prestigious 5 stars, the maximum points, making it the second airport in the European Union to display such a certificate of excellence, crowning the company's commitment to guaranteeing its passengers the best possible experience.

The prestigious 'Director General's Roll of Excellence' award given by ACI (Airports Council International) to Fiumicino airport confirms that the Roman airport consistently offers excellent service according to its passengers, as expressed through the international 'Airport Service Quality' (ASQ) survey. This award was created by ACI to honour airports that have won multiple ASQ/Customer experience awards over the past six years. In fact, Rome-Fiumicino airport has received the ASQ/Customer experience award five times in a row, joining the exclusive club of airports in the world to receive such an accolade, demonstrating its role as a model in the industry for service excellence.

The Airport Service Quality is an international survey on customer satisfaction, conducted by ACI (Airports Council International) through a standardised questionnaire distributed to passengers at the gate before boarding. The survey is carried out in more than 350 airports worldwide. Passengers have the opportunity to assess the services at the airport and express their overall satisfaction with customer experience by giving a score from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent).
The votes cast by passengers enabled Rome Fiumicino airport to earn its first place in the ranking amongst European airports with more than 40 million passengers per year for six consecutive times (from 2017 to 2023). Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, which was such a difficult and demanding time for the air transport sector, travellers at "Leonardo da Vinci" appreciated the efforts of Aeroporti di Roma in guaranteeing a quality service.

In connection with this survey, ACI has recently created a new award that recognises the dedication of airport staff, especially those working in information, maintenance, check-in, security, passport control, shops and bars/restaurants. The ratings given by passengers on the courtesy of the staff have allowed Rome Fiumicino airport to rank high among European airports.

Within the framework of this survey, ACI has recently created a new award based on how easy it is for people travelling to find their way around and locate and reach quickly all the services offered at the airport. Passenger ratings on these features have ranked Rome Fiumicino Airport as the best in Europe.

The Best Airport Award is presented by ACI Europe (Airports Council International Europe) to airports that have achieved excellence in various disciplines, including retail, security, operations, facilities, community relations, environmental awareness, and customer service. In 2018 and 2019, the judges awarded the prestigious award of best airport in Europe to Rome-Fiumicino airport.
In 2020, the Airports Council International Europe judged Fiumicino Airport to be the best airport in Europe, assigning it the "Best Airport Award", and it is the first time in the history of ACI surveys that the award is given for three consecutive years exclusively to the same airport. In 2022, 2023, and 2024 the award was assigned in the category of hubs with over 40 million passengers. In 2024, for the sixth time in the last seven years, ADR ranked first out of all European airports, ex-aequo with Istanbul airport, following an evaluation by a panel of experts that highlighted ADR's commitment to operations and customer experience; the development of new 'green' infrastructures and the Skytrax 5-Star airport's commitment to be a 'Careport', promoting an increasingly sustainable airport that takes care of people and the local area; the promotion of innovation as a driver for the sector's development, including the design and planning of new modes of transport.
WORLD'S BEST AIRPORT FOR SECURITY PROCESSING

Fiumicino airport received the World's Best Airport Security Processing award by Skytrax, the leading global air transport rating organisation, during the World Airport Awards 2024, thanks to its constantly increasing attention to the various aspects of airport security considered by the rating organization in the evaluation phase – i.e., controls, waiting times, queue monitoring systems, fast tracks and priority lanes, technologies used, courtesy and efficiency of airport staff. The recognition is assigned based on a survey through which, every year, passengers can rank their airport experience, evaluating a vast range of airport services and infrastructures – from check-in to arrivals, from shopping to security and departures, in over 550 airports around the world.

Skytrax is a UK-based international air transport research organisation that provides performance ranking and comparative benchmarking in the airline and airport industry.
The prize for the best airport staff is awarded by the organisation if precise criteria are met for the friendliness and efficiency of the customer service staff, i.e., the staff in direct contact with passengers, the staff at the information desks, the border staff, the security staff and the staff at the airport sales points.
WORLD’S MOST IMPROVED AIRPORT

Under a customer survey conducted by Skytrax, customers have the opportunity, online, to rate the services they experienced at different airports worldwide. After an outstanding increase on scores given by customers to our airport in 2018, Rome-Fiumicino airport has won the “World’s Most Improved Airport” award.
AIRPORT HEALTH ACCREDITATION

The ACI Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) programme provides airports with a document-based assessment of how aligned their health measures are with the recommendations of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) through the ‘Council Aviation Restart Task Force’ (CART), with the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) ‘Covid-19 Aviation Health Safety Protocol’ guidelines and international best practice.
AIRPORT HEALTH MEASURES AUDIT PROGRAMME – ACI BUREAU VERITAS
Awarding entity: Airports Council International (ACI) World in partnership with Bureau Veritas.

Airports Council International (ACI) World launched the "Airport Health Measures Audit Program" (AHMA), completing the "Airport Health Accreditation" (AHA) certification system created during the summer of 2020 and which was based on the documentary analysis of the measures taken by airports (Fiumicino and Ciampino are the first airports in the European Union and the third airports in the world to obtain this certification).
The "AHMA", developed in partnership with Bureau Veritas, consists of an on site audit, with the aim of validating and demonstrating the effective implementation of measures to combat COVID-19.
The audit process was performed by Bureau Veritas inspectors, through the use of a specific checklist developed by a group of health, safety, hygiene and air transport specialists to cover all aspects of health measures and recommendations published by international organisations (ACI, ICAO).
Following the on-site audits of 17-18 December 2020 (Fiumicino) and 21 December 2020 (Ciampino), the two Rome airports were found to be compliant at every stage of the airport processes, making them the first airports in the world to obtain the SafeGuard™ certification.
COVID-19 SKYTRAX AIRPORT RATING 2020

Skytrax is a UK-based international aviation research organisation that provides performance ranking and benchmarking in the aviation and airport sector.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the company conducts audits that are based on a combination of checks on the efficiency of procedures, visual observations and ATP testing (bioluminescence test on surfaces showing the presence of adenosine triphosphate; depending on the ATP levels found, the tests are either passed, failed or to be monitored).
In the inspection and relevant rating assessment, in which Skytrax follows the OMS and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Council Aviation Recovery Task Force” Best Practice levels, the CART guidelines and the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) “COVID-19 Aviation Health Safety Protocol”, Rome-Fiumicino International Airport was awarded a 5 STAR rating, the first airport to ever receive such recognition globally.
COVID-19 AIRPORT EXCELLENCE AWARD

The award, granted in 2021, recognises airports that were nominated by passengers for providing the highest health, hygiene and safety protocols during the pandemic. Passengers rated the airport's standards against COVID-19 in all key categories, including: signage and social distancing, correct use of face masks, visibility and availability of hand sanitiser, hygiene procedures at security checkpoints, cleanliness in the terminal and in the toilets.
BIOSAFETY TRUST CERTIFICATION

Year awarded: 2020
The certification awarded by RINA is the result of a careful investigation into the containment measures taken for all possible forms of contagion, from less dangerous to more harmful viruses such as Ebola and Covid-19, which involved every single part of our airports: from airport services to ICT systems, from infrastructure maintenance to commercial activities, from assistance services to security checks, from cleaning services to car parks, including a careful review of information flows to employees and passengers.
LEADERSHIP IN SUSTAINABILITY AND COMMITMENT TO RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL

ACI EUROPE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AWARD

ADR won for the first time in 2021 the "ACI Europe Digital Transformation Award", a competition open to all European airports regardless of size, which required details of the implementation of one or more solutions that correspond to the SESAR vision of the "Single European Sky" to be presented, highlighting technologies in the following areas: (i) Automation and autonomy, (ii) Air/ground integration, (iii) Virtualisation, (iv) Connectivity, (v) Data sharing. In 2024, the jury motivated the assignation for ADR's commitment to digitisation and the promotion of innovation to offer an increasingly high-quality passenger experience.
CORPORATE INNOVATION AWARD – PLUG AND PLAY

At the Plug and Play Travel & Smart Cities EXPO Day (PNP) held in Vienna, ADR received the 'Plug and Play Corporate Innovation Award' as the best global corporate partner in the Travel & Hospitality sector, for its commitment to promoting open innovation initiatives and building the 'airport of the future'.
As part of PNP's global event, which took place in Silicon Valley from 14-16 June 2022, in the presence of more than 2,000 start-ups and corporates, ADR presented its innovation model, and was considered the European benchmark for travel innovation according to Amir Amidi, Managing Director of PNP's travel & hospitality business.
FUTURE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE AWARD – POWER LIST

At the Future Travel Experience EXPO EMEA in Dublin, the ADR Innovation Team received the 'FTE Airport Transformation Power List' award at the EMEA level, for having developed an operating model that fosters the diffusion of a culture of innovation in the company, ensuring the development of an 'airports for innovation' network to drive collaboration with start-ups and open innovation partners and identifying innovation projects through the scouting of company best practices and new enabling technologies.
